Almost 10 months

I wanted to get a blog in with her current stats.

Okay, she is the 4th child...I can't find her stats...so let's just say....
She still is a peanut.  She just hit 15 pounds.

She developed a nasty case of reflux a few months ago,
Thank goodness the meds that she is on are working wonders!

She is walking all over with her walking toy.  She has taken about 5 steps on her own.
We are still not regularly sleeping through the night....but we are working on it.
Weaning her will not be an issue.  She will drink whatever liquid from whatever cup you give her.
She LOVES her siblings and they are still crazy about her!

Flashback:  About a month and a half ago...
I had a conversation with one of my close friends about the health in my household.
I told her that we have been so fortunate not to have illness travel though the house in years.
We have hardly needed to see the doctor other than well-care visits.
Baby girl had not yet been sick at all other than her UTI and reflux issues.
Not even a snotty nose yet.
My friend pointed out my our balanced eating and good sleep habits.
I patted myself on the back.
I must be a good mom....

Two weeks later....
Middle sister...sick!
Me...sick
Little Man ....sick!
Big Sister....sick
Daddy....sick
Big sister....sick AGAIN
Little Man AGAIN....sick
Daddy sick AGAIN!
Baby...SNOTTY!

ENOUGH....I GET IT!!!

Here are a few smiling pics from our not so fun days at home....

Middle Sis with her war scar from playing crazy with her friend...

Check out the ink on his hands from all his coloring!

One more thing worth mentioning.
I already told you that Little Man has been changing in a BIG way!
He is set to head to Kindergarten next year.
3 months ago he would hardly sit for 30 min. unless he was playing Angry Birds.
The last week he has been coloring every chance he gets.
FOR HOURS!!!!!
Who is this kid?
He told me the other day he wants to be an artist!
Woohoo.....he used to want to be a bank robber!  LOVE IT!

Ski School

Last weekend we headed to the mountains of NC for our first family ski trip.  Although this was something I wanted so much...I was a little worried it was going to be a big mess.  We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo with our friends.  That is a total of 11 people in a 2 bedroom condo.  (First thing I was worried about.)  Since we took baby with....we were not able to head to the slopes together.  So  Daddy was in charge of 3 kids who have never skied.  (Second thing I was worried about.)  Finally, we enrolled all three in ski school that ran from 10:00 until 3:30.  (The final thing I was worried about.)

All my worry was for nothing.  We had a great time with our friends, and there was plenty of room in the condo.  The kids did a GREAT JOB in ski school and LOVED every second of it.  It ended up being such a great weekend.

We only have a few pictures of early in the day b/c skiing with the Nikon was not an option.

Oh, and BONUS...I got to join hubby on the slopes for a few hours.
I was scared b/c it has been 13 years since i have skied....it was like riding a bike.
SO FUN!

So many thoughts...

The lack of posts really goes with the lack of picture being taken in this house.  I have no idea why we have not had the camera out lately.  I have a feeling there will be some fun pics next week....so stay tuned!

As we near the end of January here is what is going on here.....

Baby girl is almost 9 months!!  It just keeps getting more fun each day.  I will not miss the newborn days.  The squeals of excitement are way better!  She cruised along the furniture for the first time today.  I still think she may be several weeks away from walking, but it's getting closer.  She is still toothless.  She started spitting up a few months ago and it got so bad I took her to the doctor.  She got diagnosed with reflux and put on meds.  She HATES the meds and often blows them back in my face.  I cut back on them the last month.  The last two nights she spit up so much I feel like I need to get the carpet cleaned.  BACK TO THE MEDS!!  Spit up seriously grosses me out!  This is the first time I am dealing with chronic spit up.  Thank goodness this will be my last.

I interrupt this family update for two commercials....

First....we are in the process of refinancing.  I can't hardly believe what a low rate we are getting.  Our rate is dropping almost 3.5%.  I'm so excited!  If you have not looked into the rates....do it!  If you need a person....we still use our favorite mortgage officer in Galesburg.....Karen Cabrera at F&M Bank.

Second....we are excited to welcome another sponsored child into our family.  This will be our third child sponsored through Compassion International.  We have discussed doing this for several months, but I had not jumped on it until I read a post on facebook from Compassion.  It was a plea.  They said if you were considering sponsoring another child please consider a child from this red light district in India.  Child prostitution is happening in alarming numbers and Compassion is working to get these kids out of their current situation.  $38 a month....the cost of a couple of trips to Little Caesar's and I can help save a child from being loaned out for sex.  This money provides him with Bible teaching, medical checkups, nutritious food, health and hygiene education, sports, tuition, educational materials, and A SAFE PLACE TO BE!  Also Compassion will provide income generating programs for his parents.  Sounds too good to be true.....$38! This money is being sent to an area where the average monthly income is $40.  (And this little guy has 5 kids in his family.)  This was a NO BRAINER!!  For more info you can go to:

and finally the big news......

Little man will be going to Kindergarten next year!!!!

Do you hear the choir of angels singing?

I have been struggling with the decision since the fall.  Should I hold him back or send him.  It didn't help that the state I live in is totally against holding a child back a year.  (I was told it's because of parents red shirting their kids for sports purposes......I guarantee....not my intention!)  Anyway....I reached out to his very experienced preschool teacher for advise.  In the Fall she was not ready to make the recommendation and told me we should readdress the topic in the Spring.  So....now we are getting to the really exciting part....She pulled me aside on Monday and told me that she has been meaning to call me and tell me that she thinks Little Man is ready to go to Kindergarten!  She has noticed big jumps in maturity just in the last month.  She asked me if I have noticed....
Auhhhh, yea.....
He has been sitting down to color with crayons ON PAPER!
He is often practicing writing his letters and seeing how high he can count!
He gets out a puzzle when he is bored.
He answers me with "Yes Ma'am" more than not.
Oh the improvements are numerous.  It has been such a relief to me.  Now...for many mothers these things don't sound like big accomplishments....but these things were UNHEARD of 6 months ago.

These last 4 years have been HARD!  If I was not a Christian I'm not sure I could not have gotten through the last few years without beating the stuffing out of him.  I have prayed over and for this son of mine.  PLEASE LORD....give me the strength I need to do my job with this little boy. I feel so inadequate.

I know my job has just begun.  But, moving forward feels really good!  And it's starting to get really fun!

This is big stuff!  I am so tickled with my little man.

The words that come out of his mouth these days and the looks on his face....
this boy makes me smile!
